The Starchy Stuff:
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia. I am licensed by the Georgia Composite Board and awarded the status of National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors. I am also a Certified Professional Counselors Supervisor. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. I then obtained a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University. During my graduate program, I was inducted into the international and professional honor society for counseling students, Chi Sigma Iota.
My Clinical Experience – I have worked in a variety of settings, in both private and federal sectors. My clinical internship was completed in an acute care psychiatric hospital. Following graduation, I accepted a full-time position at that facility. There, I worked in both the inpatient and outpatient departments, working with adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. Additionally, I worked as a Mobile Crisis Assessor for various Piedmont hospital emergency rooms, throughout the Metro Atlanta area. I have also been honored to work for the Department of Veterans Affairs, working with Veterans and Active Duty service members in crisis. I have treated clients in the private practice setting, working directly with psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners. I am now operating my private practice in Lawrenceville, GA.
My Therapeutic Belief – I believe that having a diagnosis does not define who you are as an individual. It simply means that you need assistance in acquiring the specific tools you need to thrive. We all differ in our experiences, the way we process information, and our genetic makeup. Part of the beauty of being human is the uniqueness of our differences. I strongly believe in educating my clients about their specific mental health conditions, along with developing a collaborative treatment plan to achieve their therapeutic goals. By obtaining a strong knowledge-based foundation, clients are empowered and better equipped to evoke lasting change. My goal is to empower clients to become their best version of self so they may live more fulfilling lives.
